Dr. Jeff Bowman joined Community Eye Care in March of 2022. He is a father, grandfather, veteran, and caring optometrist. Learn more below.
He has been an associate here since March of 2022 and was formerly working out of Illinois Express Eyecare in Mattoon. We hope to serve any of his past patients. Dr. Bowman says, “I will inevitably leave off the Dr. and Bowman part when we first meet, but rest assured, they both apply to me.”
Dr. Bowman graduated from SIU, Carbondale, IL in 1975 with a degree in Administration of Justice. He then spent 11 yrs as an active Police Officer with the Carbondale City PD from 1975 - 1986. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry, Memphis TN, in 1992 as a Doctor of Optometry. Prior to his first degree, he served from 1971-1973 in the U.S. Army, stationed in New Ulm, Germany, as part of NATO.
He has been blessed to have loved and enjoyed both of his major careers. They both involve meeting and taking care of people. His patients are all special and he strives to provide the utmost care possible in every interaction. He is proficient in his occupation and continually immerses in learning and staying abreast of new aspects of the field.
Dr. Bowman’s care extends past his patients to the office and staff. We are consistently working to provide updates to the building and the technology we have available to serve our patients. Dr. Bowman says “The staff is the most knowledgeable, intelligent, and caring group of folks I've ever worked with. Ms. Joyce Meadows, Mr. Brian Wood, and Ms. Kelci (with a "C") Hite! They will not only take care of you with kindness and professionalism, but they keep me challenged and settled."
The other joys in his life center around his children and grandchildren. He also loves playing guitar and singing in private, tent camping, listening to music, and following college football. He won't mention his favorite college team due to possibly upsetting folks. Medical motto - "Do no harm."
